1. Welcome and Happenings
===========================================
A Big WELCOME to almost 3,500 subscribers that signed up
for OverHall IT! and those from hiplists.com or their affiliates.
You can read past issues at
www.overhall.com/issues_and_article.htm
Last you heard from me I had just returned from FL and
within three days of my return I had to unexpectedly fly to RI
for a week. I got ill again and had to have surgery again
upon my return. This past week I’ve just been getting back
into the swing of things and would like to announce my
upcoming teleclass series, starting Aug. 19th, Wiz Through
Your Clutter: The Wizard’s Home Organizing Series, which I
dreamed up while I was recovering from surgery and am just
getting to put them in action.
The last two issues we’ve been discussing making changes,
overcoming your organizing challenges and issues by
looking deep inside to see what you can or want to change.
Those past articles were inspired after I read Rick Butts
newest book, The Big Butts of Life. Within a week after
reading his book we met and since then have become
internet marketing buddies and Rick has graciously agreed
to be my first and special guest - to open my teleclass series
– on How-to Overcome Your Excuses, Challenges, and
Hurdles so YOU Can Take Control of YOUR Life. We have
four other expert guests lined up for the next two weeks in
August to bring you quality content you can use to help
yourself get organized. You can read all about my special
guests and the teleclass lineup at
Http://www.overhall.com/home_organizing.htm
to see if
there is something you would like to get help on.
Paula Langguth Ryan, of artofabundance.com, and I
continue to work on our forth-coming book, tentative title,
Enough is Enough: 20 Minutes a Day to Becoming Debt and
Clutter Free. This past week we wrote an article that is the
Guest article this iss’ and I truly hope you find it inspiring and
enjoy reading.
As an inexpensive way to get help getting organized and
taking back control of your life, don’ forget to check out our
NEW teleclasses this month with Special Expert Guests. To
all I’ve met recently on my travels at SuperConference and
NSA convention that said they needed help, well, here’s your
chance. Check out the nine teleclasses being offered in
August and see if you could use one at
http://www.overhall.com/issues_and_articles.htm
Well, on to some organizing, space clearing, and Feng Shui.

2. Picture Your Clutter Gone
By: Janet L. Hall
===========================================
In Catherine Ponders book, The Prosperity Secrets of the
Ages, she says, "Psychologists tell us that the picturing
power of the mind is one of man's strongest powers for
success. They say that any picture firmly held in mind is
bound to come forth as a result."
She goes on to tell us "…that you should picture what you
WANT instead of what you do NOT want because what you
constantly picture you will get!" Imagine that! You could be
making your life or clutter worse because you are "seeing it"
as chaotic and cluttered.
Do you believe that? I SURE DO!
Mental pictures, picture power, creative visualization,
imaging - whatever you refer to as the practice of "…vividly
picturing, in your conscious mind, a desired goal or
objective, and holding that image until it sinks into your
unconscious mind, where it releases great, untapped
energies" (Norman Vincent Peale) is VERY powerful. I know
VERY successful people, including myself that have
practiced imaging to get the life we wanted.
Why don't you give it a try right now? Take two minutes and
picture yourself taking control over your clutter and life.
Close your eyes, get quiet, take some deep belly breaths,
and…
Picture yourself becoming more active and taking action
against your clutter, going through the piles, the stacks, the
boxes, closets, drawers, cabinets, and anywhere you see
clutter!
Become calm and quiet, and see yourself rising up from your
seat or bed.
See yourself starting to sort through "Fill In the Blank."
Feel the items in your hands. Examine each item you touch
with your eyes, brain, and heart.
Feel the feelings that are whelming up inside you. Let them
in. Is it a sigh of relief that you are finally starting to get
organized? Is it scary? Is it overwhelming? Is it Tiring? Is it
frustrating? That's okay; stand up to your feelings. Ride with
those bad or good feelings - like you're floating on your back
in a rocking ocean. Ride the small and large waves up and
down. Lie there and float with the rhythm - your rhythm- soon
it will calm and you'll be okay - just go with the feelings until
you are calm once again.
Now see the clutter sorted, put away, and gone. See that
you were successful. (If you saw someone assisting you, in
which you needed to pay, picture the right and perfect
person coming to you, and the money needed coming to you
also.) Hold this picture in your mind and see how you feel
now.
Are you: relieved, happy, proud, or exhausted? Feel it and
enjoy the feelings.
Sit for another minute. Take another DEEP belly breath.
Slowly open your eyes and REALLY start to take the actions
you just pictured.
Now I know many of you might be thinking this is crazy or off
the wall. I also know many have excuses for their clutter -
why things are the way they are - or their fear of letting go. I
know many get attached to not just their "things" but also
their attitudes and their picture of the world, as they see it. I
know many don't take any action, nor never will, as they sit
and watch stuff pile up around them.
I know many don't have the know how to get organized.
Many just don't have any organizing skills; just don't have a
clue as to what to keep or not. Some need permission, to be
held accountable by a friend or mentor, or take a class or get
some coaching. Some need motivated or a good friend.
There is certainly nothing wrong with not having or wanting
and needing any of the above; however if you don't make the
choice to take some kind of action against your clutter I
guarantee you you will have bigger problems and more
severe clutter problems in the coming years. And it's never
too late if you start right now.
Continue to practice your imaging throughout the days and
weeks ahead. It takes little effort, but you must work on your
picturing power everyday until your action kicks in.
Make a commitment to yourself TODAY. Start TODAY!
Stand up and chose to take whatever action you need.
Dr. Peale, author of Positive Imaging: The Powerful Way to
Change Your Life, tells us that whatever our minds can
conceive and believe, and your heart desires, you can
achieve.
For those of you that read the Bible, you can even read in
Mark 11:24 that Jesus says, "What things so ever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall
have them."
So what not try, practice, and work at picturing your clutter
gone - what have you got to lose except some clutter?

3. Today I Eliminate All Prickliness From My Attitude
By: Paula Langguth Ryan and Janet L. Hall
===========================================
Excerpted with permission from forthcoming
book,
tentatively named, Enough is Enough: 20 Minutes
a Day to Becoming Debt and Clutter Free
Have you ever gotten stuck by a thorn while cutting roses or
picking raspberries? Our immediate reaction is to ease the
pain – we stick our fingers in our mouths to sooth away the
prickliness. How does this relate to our lives and our
attitudes about clutter and debt? When you look at your debt
or your clutter, what is your reaction? Do you go out and buy
something to make yourself feel better – which adds to your
debt and your clutter? Do you turn to drinking or drugs, or
the television or chocolate to ease the pain?
You may feel a prickliness every time you think about paying
your bills or cleaning up your home. When this happens,
what do you do? Do you withdraw and say you’ll pay your
bills later? Do you go back to bed and say you’ll get
organized some other day because you feel overwhelmed?
Do you get short-tempered with everyone around you
because you don’t like the way your debt or clutter makes
you feel? When you feel the prickliness approaching, ask
yourself: do I really want to get out of debt? Do I really want
to get organized?
If you’re trying to pick a rose, or pick raspberries, and you
really want to have that rose gracing your living room, or
have those berries for breakfast, the prickliness -- that minor
discomfort -- is worth working through. Sometimes you might
decide you want to wear gloves to ease the pain of what
you’re trying to do, so you can eliminate the prickliness and
continue on your task. You can do the same for your debt
and clutter, by hiring a professional to help you get past the
prickliness so you can get organized or get out of debt.
It’s true that we all have a choice about our attitude and we
can change our attitude at any time. We can choose to have
positive or negative thoughts. You get more of what you
plant. You get more raspberries and roses when you plant
positive thoughts and more thorns when you plant negative
thoughts. If you want your plants to produce more roses and
raspberries then you have to regularly cut the roses and pick
the raspberries.
Today, ask yourself: do I want to eliminate the prickliness of
my debt and do I want to eliminate the prickliness of my
clutter? If the answer is yes, take time today to cut up your
credit cards. Then take the time today to sort through at least
one pile of clutter to see what items are ripe to be tossed,
sold or given away. The benefits you reap will be as
satisfying as a good bowl of berries and as long lasting as a
fragrant rose.

4. Ask the OverHaller
===========================================
Hi Janet,
Can you teach me how to organize my ideas and help me
decide what my priorities are?
Anita
Dear Anita,
Organizing your ideas and keeping track of them can be as
easy as buying a spiral bound notebook, 8 1/2 x 11. Get one
with a bright cover so it can't get lost in a pile. In the
profession of organizing we refer to this as your Master
Notebook. It will also aid you in stopping the use of jotting
down your ideas on the backs of envelopes, stickies, or
scraps of paper.
As for prioritizing, use the 5 W's of Priorities when looking at
your list of to-do's.
5 W's of Priorities:
WHO benefits or needs this?
WHAT project/task generates the most profit for me?
(not necessarily money)
WHEN is it due?
WHERE can the work be accomplished?
WHY do I want to do it?
=========================================
5. Computer Clutter
=========================================
Back in 1998 I can across an article on cnet.com, How to put
your PC on a diet, in which was the following:
"Search for these file patterns: ~*.* , _*.* , *.??_ , *.??~
[Search for these one at a time and DO NOT include the ,]
Back up the files [to a different drive or disk,] and then delete
them [off your hard drive]--odds are that anything you turn up
will be a leftover file."
I found a total of 3960 on my computer. Here's how you find
them: Click Start on your monitor and slide your pointer over
to FIND (Some might say SEARCH) and then slide your
pointer over to Files or Folders and Click. In the pop up
screen on Name and Location Tab, type in the above
strings, one at a time, in Named and Look in the C Drive.
