1.  Welcome Message

I've been given some special time as I write this newsletter
from the deep woods of Linden, TN, as I prepare to embark
on several new journeys.  Come journey with me, as we
learn how to mediate and really listen to our thoughts and
heart, as is reflected in the OverHalling and Balance column.
And what better time to learn to be more aware and to
always be grateful when surrounded by such beauty!

Don't forget to look and see in the Events section if
Prosperity Advisor, Paula Langguth Ryan and I are stopping
in your town this month to give our seminars.  We are on the
road and excited about meeting some of you.

Okay, ready to start "OverHalling"?

2. Dump Your Brain Clutter
by: Janet L. Hall

Marcus Aurelius said, " A man's life is what his thoughts
make of it."  Think about this for a moment..Interesting,
isn't it?

As you awake in the morning, your mind races ahead of your
body with all kinds of * stuff * pouring in and out.  All your
thoughts, ideas, chores, and worries that you might have.
No wonder you're tired before your feet even hit the ground.
Before you realize it, you're up and running here, running
there, going through your morning, unaware of how you
even apply the toothpaste on your brush or what body parts
you wash first.  All the while, stuff is pouring into your head
from everywhere, ideas, chores, appointments,
commitments, relationships, conversations, past events, the
future.  This self-talk, we all have it.  Random thoughts:
worries, fears, negativity, frustration, happiness, joy,
freedom, inspiration, and light bulb ideas.

Oh, and the nighttime thoughts that keep you from falling
asleep; sleep you so badly need and yearn for.  The tossing
and turning because you can't seem to shut off the clutter of
self-talk that invades your brain, such as the got to do's,
forgot to do's, want to do's and could haves, and should
haves.  The what ifs, wishes, and dreams. Let's not forget
the recreation of past conversations and events.

What are you thinking . or are you?

Whether it's your fears, destructive thoughts, unhappiness,
or things you have no control over, dump 'em!!

One way to STOP you brain clutter is to dump those
thoughts onto paper.  Get the clutter out of your head, and
your heart.  Stop the clutter within from building up inside
you, clogging the passageways to your heart, and your spirit.

Whatever is bouncing around in your head and heart, let it
flow from your pen, dumping your "brain clutter" onto paper.
Don't think about what you're writing, don't stop to analyze
your words, to plan, to prioritize, if it can be or can't be
accomplished, undone, or changed.  Just write.

Dump your anger and fear.
Dump your frustrations and impatience.
Dump your wanting and sadness.
Dump your judging and prejudices.
Dump your anxieties and boredom.

For now, dump your happiness and joy.
Dump your love and gratitude
Dump your affirmations, your prayers, and your songs.

Empty all the clutter and noise out of your head and heart.

It's there.  Look deep and let it out.

Take a deep breath, and let it out.  Do this several times,
concentrating only on your breathing.

Look at what you've written and SEE the things you have
written.

Writing all your brain clutter down can help you understand
and see what is going on inside of you.  What are you giving
your attention to?

Who or what are you angry at?
Who or what do you fear?
Who or what are you wanting?
Who or what are you judging?
Who or what are you bored with?
Who or what is taking your attention away from you, your
spirit?
Look inside, let it out..

Who or what makes you laugh?
Who or what fills you with love?
Who or what are you grateful for?
Who or what brings you happiness?
Who or what beings you joy?
Who or what are you giving your attention to?
Who or what feeds your spirit?

Norman Vincent Pearle suggests "that if you fill your mind
with spiritual words so that they sink from your conscious to
your subconscious mind by a process of spiritual osmosis,
you will so condition your personality with spiritual power and
sensitivity that God's will can operate in you."

Find all the positive and joyfulness on your paper and bring
them back into your heart and mind.

As Joan Lunden has said, "Positive thoughts are extremely
powerful.  They become our inspirations; negative ones
become our roadblocks."

Circle the items on your paper that you can take action on,
want to take action on, and items that you have control over.
All the negativity, sadness, fears, frustrations, the things you
have no control over, let them go, repeating the verse,
"Renew a right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

I love what Norman Vincent Peale once said, "Every night
when you lie down to sleep, practice dropping the day into
the past.  It is over, finished."

Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.
(Romans 12:2)

4. Gratitude
by Marie T. Russell

Gratitude. There are so many things to be grateful for! Birds
singing, butterflies fluttering by, sunshine pouring its energy
on the earth, trees and the shade they provide, clouds for
their beauty and their rain, the bounty of Mother Nature that
feeds our physical, emotional and spiritual bodies, children
playing, the love of our friends, the comforts of modern
living, the coolness of the breeze. One could go on forever
listing things for which to be grateful.

Yet, surrounded by this beauty and love, we often rush
through our busy-busy day neglecting to be grateful for it all.
How often do we go past a beautiful bush of frangipani (or
lilacs, or roses) and give thanks for their colorful beauty and
aroma? How often do we lift our head to the sky, and give
thanks and praise for the life and energy provided by our
sun? Do we take these things so much for granted that we
don't even see them anymore?

Do we take for granted our modern paraphernalia such as
telephones, flush toilets, computers, fax machines,
television, refrigerators, etc. How often do we stop and feel
gratefulness for having an "ice-box" that does not require our
lugging blocks of ice to it in order to keep vegetables fresh?
Do we stop and think of the wonderful avenues that
telephones, fax machines, computers, and the internet open
up to us? All these things have become an integral part of
our lives. Do we appreciate them? Or do we take them for
granted?

And what about our cars? Do we feel and express
appreciation for the transportation and ease they provide?
Do we remember to thank our human vehicle, our body? Do
we appreciate the physical body that carries us through this
lifetime - do we treat it with respect and love? Do we give it
the best attention and care? Do we feed it the best foods so
that it may continue to serve us well? Or do we push it to the
extreme of its limits, feed it improperly, don't let it rest, and
then wonder why it starts stalling and "bucking"?

Are we grateful for the job we have, the clients that come to
us, the money that we receive? Do we truly feel and express
appreciation, or do we take it all in stride and feel it is our
due...True, all these blessings are our "due" as children of a
Divine Creator, yet it is also our duty to express thanks. It is
our duty to express our gratitude not only through words, but
also through works. Do we give back to the Universe for the
many blessings it bestows on us? Do we share? Do we
love?

The action of giving thanks, the attitude of gratefulness, is
one of the keys to creating the life you want. When Jesus put
into practice his teaching - "Ask and ye shall receive that
your joy may be full" (John 16:24) - he immediately gave
thanks. He did not wait for the event to manifest, but rather
gave thanks before the result was visible. This denoted
complete trust and faith.

We have many instances in our life where we exhibit lack of
trust and faith in the Universe, and in the people around us.
Take for example, a situation where you ask your spouse or
children to do something. If you keep repeating your request
throughout the day, obviously you are not trusting that they
will remember and provide what it is you have asked for. You
are doubting. When we ask for something in our lives, we
need to give thanks and feel gratefulness even before we
have the "proof". If we are seeking new employment, we
need to have complete confidence in its manifestation and
give thanks for the new livelihood and new opportunities
opening to us. If we are praying for healing, we must give
thanks and have faith in the manifestation of that healing.
We have to believe and be grateful before the healing takes
place. Anything other than that attitude, simply denotes a
lack of faith in the Universe.

The Universe has been described as a big "YES". It agrees
with all our beliefs. So if your real belief is that you will not
get what you are asking for, then the Universe says YES,
and you indeed do not get what you are asking for. Maybe
we need to remember that Jesus not only said "Ask and ye
shall receive" but also "If ye have faith, and doubt not...it
shall be done" (Matthew. 21:21) Since we create and attract
that which we believe, if we speak of not having enough, that
is what we will find in our day to day reality -- not only today
but in the days to come.

Remember the Universe will agree with you, and give you
more of the same. This is why it is important to be grateful
for what we have, even when we feel it is "not enough",
because gratitude opens the door to more coming in.
Whether we are grateful for material things, or for love in our
life, the gratitude acts like a magnet. 'Like attracts like'
applies to gratitude as well. Not only will we attract more of
what we are grateful for, but we will also attract gratitude
from others also. The more love you give, the more love you
receive. (I'm speaking of love, not martyrdom.)

Be truly grateful for the opportunities open to you, and give
thanks for everything that is manifesting in your life, always
trusting in the perfect manifestation for the Highest Good of
all concerned. Happy Thanksgiving, today and every day

6.  Jokes, Quotes, and Anecdotes

>>The thought manifests as the word; the word manifests as
the deed; The deed develops into habit; and habit hardens
into character; so watch the thought and it's way with care,
and let it spring from love born out of concern for all beings."

Just be Willing
to sit in the silence - 1-1-01
By: Rev. Jack and Janet Needham

When the sun arises in the morning
When the moon arises in the night
Where the peace awaits you in the silence
Where the love embraces you in light

Just be willing to sit in the silence
Just be willing not to know
If you're willing to sit in the silence
Then your light will surely grow

All you need to do is just be willing
All you need to do is just relax
Let the peace that passes understanding
Gently guide you on your chosen path

Just be willing to sit in the silence
Just be willing not to know
If you're willing to sit in the silence
Then your peace will surely grow

Take one breath, and then you take another
Breathe love in, and then you breathe it out
It's a circle with no start or ending
That's what love itself is all about

Just be willing to sit in the silence
Just be willing not to know
If you're willing to sit in the silence
Then your love will surely grow
