Shifting the Energies of Your Entryway
By: Janet Hall, The Person/Place Energy Mover
Now, go back inside and stop ...
.... and standing in the doorway looking into
your home or office building what do you see?
What needs to be moved?
What might be in your way or cause you to 'stub your toe' when
you enter and/or walk through your home or building? Now add
to your list ( get one at
http://www.overhall.com/feng_shui/feng_shui_entryway.htm ) what needs
to be moved in this area to make the flow of entering a positive,
pleasing and pleasant one.
What needs to be removed?
Is there anything in this area you no longer love, admire, or use?
Is there anything in this area that needs repaired, cleaned,
or put away? Now add to your list what needs to be
removed, repaired, cleaned, or put away from this area.
What do you need to add?
Do you have anything to the right inside the door (best position;
however I know not always available space in some buildings) or
left that will "support" you and/or visitors, such as a small table to
lean on, place your keys, mail, etc. or a chair to rest, lean into or
place packages on while entering? You might have an umbrella
stand with a few umbrellas for the offering or when needed and
perhaps a bench to sit on or mirror to check yourself when
leaving. While you're standing there make sure your door doesn't
stick, doorknob and locks work properly and that your door can
open all the way..that means nothing stored behind the door to
impede it from opening.
Walls
Do you have a welcoming image, photo of loved ones, painting
or print of something or someplace that is beautiful? If you have
employees entering your building do you have icons that might be
motivating, fun or whimsical? Or do you simply need to give your
walls a little 'paint lift'? Knowing what your goals are and how
you want others and yourself to connect to this space will help
you determine what types of icons and colors should be used.
Colors
What are the colors on your walls, floor, furnishings and icons?
Color has more of an affect on you and your visitors then you
probably realize...more on that later. For now check out
http://www.overhall.com/feng_shui/feng_shui_colors.htm to read about
what colors are used to create certain environment types
and how they can evoke certain emotions and feelings.
Odors
What types of smells "hit you" in the face when you enter? Pet
odors, smoke odors, people odors, clutter odors?
Place a candle, diffuser, oils, scent ball (hang over doorway) or
incense for:
Aromatic - Apple Spice or Eucalyptus
Damp Places - Cedar
Cuts Through other Odors - Orange
Cleansing - Sage
Strong, Lasting Sweetness - Lavender

Sound
What do you hear when you enter your place? Perhaps a bell
hanging on the doorknob to alert you when someone enters, a
chime of a clock or a
fountain near the entrance, indoors or just outside the door to
welcome your visitors and you. The tempo, beats per minute,
and different sounds can 'set the
pace' to how your visitors and you move through this space,
change your mood and can contribute to how you feel in this
space.

Now I really want you to think about these next two questions:
1. What message or 'energies' are you receiving and/or sending
to those that enter?
2. What message or 'energies' would you like to receive and/or
send to those entering your space?
The answer to these questions will help you determine what
actions you need to take from the list you just created.
See, that wasn't bad was it? Pretty easy and you know what
they say?
"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your
eyes off your goals." -- Sydney Smith
Okay, now we've gotten into your home or building and as we
walk ...
